Blizzard in North Dakota

We woke up to a blizzard this morning. Wind chill near 41 below! Church and all other activities for the day are cancelled including Marshall's Eagle Court of Honor that we have been planning for a long time. Gram and Grand dad came in for the big event and are leaving now with out having witnessed it. The cake is in the freezer to be saved for a later date, the balloons are deflating and the programs are outdated--living in North Dakota is an adventure. Why are we happy here?

Two Boys Birthdays

Marshall celebrated his 17th birthday on 21 Nov 2008 and the next day he shot his first deer. YIKES, two hunters in the house!
Here he is enjoying his favorite plain angel food cake. I won't post a picture of the deer :)

Taylor celebrated his 14th birthday just one week later on 28 Nov 2008, Black Friday this year. He enjoyed his favorite cheesecake for his treat. They are both getting so tall. Marshall is 5'11", and Taylor is almost 5'6" tall.
It is so much fun having these boys around, they are such good kids, I am going to be really sad when Marshall goes off to college.

Our Friends

We invited our friends Chuck and Sharon Campbell for Thanksgiving dinner. They are both blind and live alone. Sharon is battling cancer for the 2nd time in the past couple years. They are such a strength to me and we really enjoyed having them in our home

After dinner we had our annual Thanksgiving pie/dessert night. The chocolate fountain was a big hit once again :)

Thanksgiving Trifle

Brooke always makes trifle for our Thanksgiving dinner, but since she is away at school (we miss you Brooklyn) she gave Taylor the task. He not only made a trifle that looked fabulous, it was oh so delicious!

Baby Avery's Blessing Day

Jeff got to go to Utah this past weekend to participate in Avery's blessing. I made her dress but was not able to go this time because of the boys and school. I was sad not to be able to see the kids and baby again, but I was glad that I didn't have to get on a plane! Apparently she really liked hanging out with her grandpa :)

View from up in a tree

These pictures are from Jeff's hunt a couple of weeks ago. He said it was a beautiful evening and really enjoyed being out in nature about as much as shooting a deer. I'm sure there is some innocent little doe hiding down in the bush somewhere. I won't post any pictures of the innocent little doe after Jeff found her, it might not be good for some of your stomachs :)

Halloween 1983

25 years ago this is what I had to dance with when I found Jeff Deem's name on my card at the Halloween card dance up Logan canyon. This picture is not too good, but you can get the idea of how he looked. His room mate and he went to a local barbershop and swept up hair from the floor and put it on them to turn them into werewolves! I had no idea what he really looked like,
and it was several weeks before I realized that he was the good looking guy I was now engaged to.

Twenty five years later

Twenty five years later here we are. Jeff looks a bit different, and I am not sporting a mullet anymore :)

Carving Pumpkins

The boys carved their pumpkins tonight for family night. I can't believe how cool they turned out.
Marshall carved Yoda

Taylor carved this racoon!

Brooklyn

Brooke thought that she might have been forgotten, but I was just not that far on this new blog. She is off gaining her education at Utah State in Logan, Utah. We love you Brooklyn. GO AGGIES!
Brooke took us on a tour of the campus. It was fun to show the boys where she goes to school, and it was really fun being back where Jeff and I met 25 years ago this Friday. Halloween 1983!

Brooke did you just become a true Aggie?

Marshall's Lillies

Here is a picture of Marshall's lillies that we
have been moving from house to house for the
past six years. We took them to the duplex
in pots and I just planted them in the garden at
our new house. They are so pretty. I hope they
like their new home :)

Soccer and Cross Country Season

We have been super busy since school started, running from golf courses for Taylor's cross country to soccer fields for Marshall's soccer games. We have had amazing weather, I know that is hard to believe for North Dakota. Taylor was in the top five at Central for the middle school division, and Marshall's varsity team went to state. All of that ended last week so now we will have some time to try and get moved all the way in to our house and maybe even get some pictures up!

We're trying the blogging thing

The Deems are bloggers can you believe it?
